Angela Martilik

Licensed Professional Counselor, Mediator

Angela has been a practicing psychotherapist since 2004. She is the founder of Family Tree Counseling, and a member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology. Angela is a mediator for both family and business matters, and a collaborative communications professional in the collaborative law process.

Her background includes general counseling, school counseling, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, work with court mandated individuals, and families with a member with special needs. She takes her counseling skills into mediations and collaborative situations. As a collaborative communications professional, Angela maintains a neutral stance in order to facilitate better communication between those involved in the case. Angela's goal with every case is to help clients reach a reasonable solution, while maintaining dignity and general well-being. Her approach is compassionate and nonjudgemental, yet direct. The relationships she builds with clients are the product of empathy, and strong listening skills.

Angela received her BA in psychology from Stephen F. Austin State university in 1998, and her MA in counseling psychology from Texas Woman's University in 2004. She plans to complete her PhD in Forensic Psychology in the summer of 2018.

Outside of the office, Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. They play golf, and enjoy family movie nights.
